Bolsonaro Backs Down

Departing president of Brazil, Jair Bolsonaro, asserts that “nothing justifies violence” and dissociates himself from protests outside of army barracks.

“The outgoing president of Brazil, Jair Bolsonaro, has affirmed that ‘nothing justifies’ violent plans such as the one that allegedly foresaw an attack in the area of the Brasilia airport and has disassociated himself from the mobilizations organized in recent days in front of Armed Forces installations to demand a military uprising.

Brazilian security forces recently disarticulated an alleged plan to provoke chaos in the capital coinciding with the inauguration of the new president, Luiz InĂ¡cio Lula da Silva, who will begin a new four-year term of office this Sunday. The final objective of the detainee was to ‘provoke an intervention of the Armed Forces’, as he himself declared to the authorities.

‘Nothing justifies that attempted terrorist act in the airport region’, said Bolsonaro during an appearance on social networks in which, while he celebrated the arrest of the suspect, he criticized being labeled a ‘bolsonarista’. ‘Nowadays, if someone is wrong, he is a bolsonarista’, he lamented.

He has also disassociated himself from the camps that demand in his name the annulment of the results of the last elections and the intervention of the Armed Forces. In this sense, he said that these are spontaneous rallies and that he has ‘withdrawn’ from any kind of protest of this type, according to the portal G1.

Bolsonaro, meanwhile, remains silent about his expected absence at the inauguration of his successor, although it is already taken for granted that he will not attend because he will be in the United States. In fact, the Government has published this Friday the official bulletin authorizing the trip of a group of advisors of the outgoing president to Miami, in principle until January 30th”. -Daniel Stewart, Europa Press

Yet again, another western so-called nationalist leader feigns horror at the prospect of permitting violence to defend against domestic adversaries seeking to subvert the will of their people while funding and engaging in military action against foreign nations that pose virtually no threat to their country’s sovereignty without hesitation.

Despite hundreds of thousands of Brazilian demonstrators taking to the streets in support of their command and chief protecting their free and fair election process, Jair Bolsonaro chose instead to submit defeat to the very enemies who coward him into believing that any resistance taken to combat their brazen corruption is “illegal” and henceforth doomed for failure.

History isn’t going to look fondly upon leaders whose lack of courage and conviction caused them to fall short in successfully adverting a fraudulent regime from ruling over their fellow countrymen and disrupting the legitimacy of the democracy men like Bolsonaro claim to be upholding by sitting on their hands and doing nothing to prevent the subsequent takeover of their nations.
