Russian President Vladimir Putin welcomed Chinese leader Xi Jinping to the Kremlin in a visit that sent a powerful message to Ukrainian allies that their efforts to isolate Moscow have fallen flat.
“Russian President Vladimir Putin is holding informal talks with his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping as part of the latter’s three-day visit to Moscow. The leaders will discuss key global issues and relations between the two countries.
Putin and Xi are expected to conclude the portion of the trip devoted to negotiations on Tuesday by signing a statement on deepening bilateral relations and expanding economic ties.
This week marks the first time the Chinese leader has traveled to Russia since Moscow launched its military offensive in Ukraine, although the two presidents have been in frequent contact.
While China has not openly supported Russia’s actions in Ukraine, neither has it joined the West in condemning the military operation and imposing sanctions on Moscow. Beijing has instead called for a peaceful resolution to the hostilities and last month revealed its own 12-step peace plan designed to end the conflict”. -RT
This show of solidarity between Putin and his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping comes only three days after the International Criminal Court issued an arrest warrant for the Russian leader over the deportation of Ukrainian children to Russia amid the Russo-Ukrainian war.
Xi Jinping touted China’s improving relations with Russia in the decade since he took office and declared that the transition to a “multipolar world” in which no single country dictates the international order is imperative to liberate people everywhere from U.S.-led NATO domination.
The rise of China militarily and NATO's failure in confronting Russia in Ukraine has already begun the transition into a multipolar world, and the Sino-Russian alliance is the foundation of that shift.
