Shelling Out for Kiev

The Ukrainian military is spending approximately a hundred million dollars a day on their conflict with Russia, according to the outgoing Ukrainian Defense Minister Alexey Reznikov.

“One day of military operations costs $100 million for Ukraine, Alexey Reznikov, who has just resigned as Ukraine’s defense minister, said on Monday.

In his video address on Sunday evening, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelenskyy said that he had decided to replace Reznikov with Rustem Umerov, the head of Ukraine’s State Property Fund. Reznikov submitted his resignation request to parliament. After this issue is agreed by the relevant parliament committee, it will be put to a vote. Then, Zelenskyy will offer his nominee to the parliament.

According to Ukrainian Prime Minister Denis Shmygal, the country’s defense spending will reach $48.7 billion this year. David Arakhamiya, leader of the pro-presidential Servant of the People party’s faction, said that the lawmakers are working on a reform to channel all budget revenues to defense needs”. -TASS

Reznikov also stated that Kiev has received about $100 billion in military aid from its Western backers, including more than $50 billion from the United States, alone, since the Russian invasion.

NATO is pumping such a tremendous amount of money, weapons, and resources into Ukraine for fear that permitting Kiev to surrender could free Europe from its subordination to American financial and military hegemony.

Just as the United States has blown up pipelines in order to prevent Germany from buying fuel from Russia, there is no reluctance on the part of the West to fight to the last Ukrainian to forestall the economically desperate European nations from potentially latching onto the emerging BRICS economies following the imminent defeat of the Kiev regime and the subsequent collapse of Western institutions such as the European Union.
